"I spent considerable time discovering how to structure this extraordinary perfume. I had my accord combining three sage extracts with various skin-evoking spices, but they needed a logical, harmonious assemblage. I experimented with numerous structures, and it was within a woody, musky foundation that the entire formula found its meaning. While spices naturally complement wood, the vetiver-sandalwood-warm musk ensemble revealed the skin-like and animalic facets of sage. I also greatly enjoyed working with wheat absolute - a material I rarely use. It brings a tactile dimension and reinforces the carnal quality of notes that linger on skin."
